“When I despair, I remember that all through
history the way of truth and love always won. There have been tyrants and
murderers, and for a time, they might seem invincible, but in the end, they
always fall. Think of it, always ”…Mahatma Gandhi (1869 -1948) Indian activist who was the leader of the Indian Independence Movement against British government. Employing non-violent civil disobedience. He led India to independence and inspire civil rights movement around the world.
Oh! Dear!
There
have been countless prophesies of diverse outcomes for the world and humanity
by many a seer for as long as we can remember, and as legends have told. Some
came true, some to naught, and for some we ostensibly await, not for us to be
consumed by darkness, but with the hope that it is averted, and that if it does
come to past, we surrender our inquisitive minds to be excited by the spectacle
of the obvious probability in the absence of actual convictions.
In the
light of this, why wouldn’t we ask ourselves what has become of this beautiful
world. A play ground for children and the young at heart or simply a nasty
battle ground for blind and egocentric adults?
Despite
that we know that our existence upon earth is laden with transience, yet we
oppress ourselves, but little do we know that tomorrow is as evasive as they
come.
“Above all, don’t lie to yourself. The man who
lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot
distinguish the truth within him, or around him and so loses all respect for
himself and for others. And having no respect, he ceases to love”…Fyodor
Dostoevsky (1821 - 1881) Russian novelist, journalist and philosopher.
Whipped reality?
Hate is
real, and a school of thought tells us that’s why God created love in order to
counter it, just like lies fly all around us, and it takes just one truth to
shred them to pieces. And if you have ever experienced true love, you’ll easily
realize that it indeed does conquer all.
So is
it therefore wise to say that the reason why the world is currently in shambles
is because we humans do not love ourselves? Perhaps we are just not in tune
with reality, or we simply chose to ignore the wise saying that sometimes things
are more than meets the eye, and therefore are not always as they seem.
“The ultimate test of a man’s conscience may be
his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations whose words
of thanks cannot be heard”…Gaylord Nelson (1916 - 2005) American politician and environmentalist.
Whatever it takes!
I have
not posted on this blog for a while simply because I have been completely overwhelmed
by things constantly happening all around the world concurrently. The war in
Syria, the schemes in Russia, the political gymnastics in America, the apparent
invasion by China into Africa, the Internet induced distractions of youths
around the world, it sure is a lot to take in.
No one
can actually change the world directly.
As long
as we are a product of our thoughts and environment, we can only impact the
world to the degree of the information we have processed in our minds.
We are
bound by fate to give our best to humanity without ego and oppression; but with
genuine love and honesty, because through that, we experience true and
untainted joy, so lets give it whatever it takes.
Nigerians’ Angle
Nigeria has a population of about 200 million people, but over 80 million people live in extreme poverty despite the huge revenue generated from crude oil. The poverty in Nigeria has caused crime, emigration and politicians' exploitation of the youths. According
to Aljazeera, bad roads, poor education, lowly healthcare, pathetic power
supply, poverty, corruption and weak leadership are synonymous with Nigeria,
but what other truths are out there?
Why are
the youths restive, why are women sidelined, why isn’t there transparency in
governance, why can’t the leaders and labour unions see the bigger picture?
The
oncoming elections have been massively criticized for disenfranchising many
Nigerians that haven’t obtained their voters card, but it is way beyond that.
If it were a more intelligent and youth oriented society that is transparent and
where things actually work, perhaps the true voice of the people will be heard,
instead of merely fantasizing and celebrating mediocrity.
Of
course the youth and the women have a huge role to play, but education has to
be particularly revived and employment should be adequately provided so that
every citizen will know and defend their rights without fear and insecurity,
they’ll be confident in making up their own minds and make real life decisions.
The
truth is definitely out there, but we need to recognize it and let the light
shine towards the path that the rest of us are set to tread.
Cheers
guys and please do remember that the truth is out there, lets not just tell it,
let it flow for it’s the only shining light we need to tread in the darkness
that surrounds us.
God
bless Nigeria, Africa and the World.
Thank
you, and be awesome because you
truly are.
