“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
Happy New Year! Hmm, that really feels good to say in all ramifications, considering those that passed away in the previous year and the stereotype that perhaps new opportunities and new achievements will spring up in the New Year, fair enough. Of course life mysteries can hardly be riddled by over-emphasis, ranging from the existence of man to the decision he makes especially in direct proportion to his immediate environment and how gracefully nature takes her time to grow and evolve living things with no hastiness at all.
“Character is the ability to carry out a good resolution long after the excitement of the moment has passed.” — Cavett Robert
Wars and hidden conflicts soaring above us like ghosts of haunted houses, vague and perhaps obscure ulterior motives causing stirs of multiplier effects of self-centeredness, creating the familiar scenario of two elephants fighting and leaving the innocent grass to suffer, seriously that hurts us all.
Corruption is about the most used word in the world, yet it infiltrates our lives more and more, inch by inch, minute by minute, making it difficult for us to behold ourselves in the mirror due to the fact that we realize that we are only hypocrites that dare lie to ourselves in our private quiet times, else we will be bewildered as to who we really are, mere mortals surviving on the breath of dismissible alibis.
“With the New Year comes new strength and new thoughts”…Eleanor Roosevelt
Fortunately though, the seeming perceived fresh breath of a brand New Year gives an opportunity and a justifiable reason to do a life audit and reflection, in order to correct wrongs and re-strategize future life trajectories, hmm cool. It just becomes apparently clear to sound minds that no one becomes new automatically; obviously, the first day of the New Year is like any other day, the only thing that actually becomes new or rather has the tendency to be renewed is the mind, given a new orientation and forward moving new lease on life. The world has consistently marveled at and celebrated super-humans, those that went the extra mile to improve not only themselves, but greatly positively influenced their environment. Mandela is a glaring example of one of the greatest heroes of our time who almost entirely out-lived his legendary attributes, he bade us farewell perhaps so that we could voraciously dive into 2014 and beyond to do more exploits than he did. Unfortunately though, many so called leaders with insecurities only waste time either making comparisons with him or strive to be like him only on a platform of competition.
What else is new about the year asides the year?...well, with respect and also without prejudice, I’d say nothing really, even national budgets may just as well pass for custom construed propaganda.
The real and new policies usually come in the course of the year when it is presumed “old”. So logically, getting new clothes, apartment & new friends might not necessarily do you much good, even this context I am of the opinion that old friends are most probably better than new, even the recent recession taught us to be prudent and hold unto our old toys. Living everyday like its our last and also brand new should do the trick.
